Chandigarh Manali Chandartal Road Trip (5 Nights / 6 Days)
Fondly called as the “Moon Lake”, Chandratal is one of the splendors of Himalayas! The beauty of the Himalayan Lake will do nothing but bewitch you with its changing colors from dusk to dawn. With the shades of brown and white, the lake perfectly blends with the surroundings and looks surreal.
Explore the unexplored beauty of Himalayas
Spiti Valley has recently seen an increase in tourism, and this place is worth a visit at least once in a lifetime. Chandratal, one of the untouched regions in Himachal Pradesh, is a paradise for trekkers and campers, and it is only accessible for a few months in a year. It will be an amazing experience to see the crystal clear lake of sweet water change its color from shades of blue to shades of green. Earlier, the lake was one of the places which were accessible only by trekking, but in the last few years the road conditions have improved and it’s accessible by car. Trekking is one of the best ways to go up there, as the silence and the serenity of the place will leave you in peace.
Travel environment friendly and eco-tourism
As Chandratal is one of the most remote regions of the Himalayas, our aim would be to keep the environment clean. We will make sure that we minimize the use of carbon and plastic, and help reduce its impact on the ecosystem. Communities and people who live here have limited resources due to the harsh climatic conditions and accessibility issues, so it’s our responsibility to travel in ways that support the environment, create awareness about ecotourism and contribute to the greater good of the community. We can contribute by staying in the local homestays, not depending on firewood, by not littering the place, and by saying no to plastic.

Handling altitude sickness during the tour

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can occur to anyone at an altitude above 10,000 feet – which is the average elevation of Spiti Valley. To avoid AMS, it is extremely important to acclimatize well to the conditions and the altitude. Once you reach Spiti Valley, it is advisable to take complete rest for a day before starting any physical excursion. AMS can be alleviated or avoided by slowing the pace of ascent. It is for this reason that we usually recommend a minimum of seven days for a tour of Spiti valley. This gives the body plenty of time to adapt to the increasing altitude.
